How long is a typical session?
A typical session length is 50 minutes.
What do I do to get started?
You can text or call either of our offices or complete the contact form on our website. We’ll schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation to discuss your needs and match you with the right therapist.
How do I pay?
We accept HSA cards and all major credit cards. Payment is due at the time of service. For your convenience, we can keep a credit card on file with your authorization.
Do you accept insurance?
In Utah, we accept Select Health, DMBA, PEHP, and Regence BCBS.
We are not accepting insurance in Florida.
For other insurances, you will need to self-pay; we can provide a superbill for reimbursement.
Can you help me file my insurance?
Yes, our administrative team will help verify your benefits and submit claims on your behalf for in-network plans. For out-of-network plans, we provide you with monthly statements (Superbills) for reimbursement.
Can I cancel an appointment? Do you have a cancellation policy?
You may cancel your session with at least 24 hours’ notice. You’ll be charged for the full session fee if you fail to cancel your appointment at the required time and give adequate warning.
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please do so at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations, no-shows, and rescheduled sessions will be subject to a $75 charge if not received within this timeframe. This is necessary because a time commitment is made to you and is held exclusively for you. If you are late for a session, you may lose some of that session time. Sessions are considered a no-show if you have not arrived 15 minutes after the scheduled appointment start time.
What is a free initial phone consultation?
Our 15-minute phone consultation allows us to understand your needs, answer your questions, and help determine if our services are a good fit for you before scheduling your first appointment.
Do you work with men? Women? Couples? Adolescents?
Yes, our diverse team of therapists works with men and women, couples, families, and adolescents ages 12 and up. We treat couples as equal partners.
Do you work with people from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and religions?
Yes, we value diversity and are committed to cultural competence. Our therapists have experience working with clients from various cultural, ethnic, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds. We also provide trauma-informed care.
What is therapy like with you?
Our approach is compassionate. We use a structured model with steps and stages that is research-based and has proven outcomes. We incorporate a client-centered, therapist-directed approach to therapy. We create a safe space for exploration while providing practical tools for change. Sessions blend supportive listening with evidence-based techniques to help you create new experiences and lasting change.
How long will I be in therapy?
The duration varies depending on your goals and needs. Research shows that many clients experience positive outcomes between 9-12 sessions (75 minutes) for specific issues. Others choose longer-term therapy for deeper work or when healing from past trauma. We’ll regularly review progress and adjust as needed.
Do I have to tell you everything?
You control what you share in therapy. While openness generally leads to better outcomes, you can set boundaries about what you discuss, and we’ll respect that.
Who benefits from therapy?
People seeking personal growth, healing from trauma, struggling with specific issues, navigating life transitions, or looking to improve relationships can all benefit from therapy. It’s helpful for both crisis situations and ongoing personal development.
Do you offer video or phone sessions?
Yes, we offer secure video sessions for those who prefer or need remote options. Most insurance plans cover these and provide the same quality care as in-person sessions.
How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?
The therapeutic relationship is crucial for successful therapy. During our initial consultation and first few sessions, assess whether you feel comfortable, understood, and respected. Good therapy should feel challenging yet supportive.
Are you a Christian counselor?
While some of our therapists incorporate spirituality when clients request it, we are not specifically faith-based. We respect and work with clients from all religious backgrounds and spiritual perspectives. We follow your lead when it comes to religious preference and values.
Is our work confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. We adhere to all HIPAA regulations and ethical guidelines. The exceptions to confidentiality include risk of harm to yourself or others, abuse of vulnerable populations, or court orders, which we discuss thoroughly in our informed consent.
For Couples
You are entrusting our therapists to use professional judgment as it relates to individual confidences. That said, by engaging in therapy, you are acknowledging that anything you communicate to your therapist individually by phone, email, or any other means may be important to bring up and work on in a couples therapy session. Your therapist reserves the right (but not the obligation) to do so.
Do couples fight in front of you?
Sometimes. Some couples seek treatment because they have developed negative patterns of interaction or escalated conflicts. In these cases, we work to slow things down and focus on areas for improvement. We provide a safe environment and tools to make conflicts more productive. We specialize in getting to the root issues behind these conflicts.
Do you take sides?
No, we do not take sides. Our job is to understand both perspectives and help you understand each other better. We work to create a balanced therapeutic relationship where both partners feel seen and heard.
